David D. Chrislip is one of the foremost students of collaborative leadership in the world today. For nearly 30 years, he has worked with communities and organizations, both nationally and internationally, and has conducted leadership development programs for thousands of students, managers and community leaders.
The broader purpose of David's work is to build civil society. He focuses on three areas:
- Civic leadership development
- Collaboratively addressing complex community issues
- Organizational strategy and development
He has served as a Senior Associate of the National Civic League and as Vice President of the Research and Development for American Leadership Forum. For 20 years, David was a senior course director with the Colorado Outward Bound School and the National Outdoor Leadership School. He previously served in financial management positions with The Boeing Company.
David is co-author of the influential book Collaborative Leadership: How Citizens and Civic Leaders Can Make a Difference and author of The Collaborative Leadership Fieldbook: A Guide for Citizens and Civic Leaders. He holds an M.P.A. degree from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Currently, David is the Principal of Skillful Means.

Paul Born
In 2002, Paul Born founded and now directs Tamarack - An Institute for Community Engagement, a 10-year journey and partnership with Alan Broadbent of the Avana Capital Corporation.
Paul was the Executive Director and founder of the Community Opportunities Development Association (CODA) for 12 years (now Lutherwood), one of Canada’s most successful community economic development organizations and Opportunities 2000, a millennium campaign to reduce poverty in Waterloo Region to the lowest in Canada, which received the United Nations’ "Top 40 Projects Worldwide" in 1998.
A motivational, inspiring and informative speaker, Paul has extensive experience in helping organizations and communities to develop new and sustainable ideas that motivate people to collaborative action.
He holds a master’s degree in Leadership, is a Mennonite inspired by Yoga and Buddhism, and is a dad that loves to cook. To read Paul's latest thinking, click here.

Louise Kearney
Louise leads Tamarack's communications, knowledge management, and award-winning Learning Centre, working with an incredible team to capture, animate and share ideas to advance the work of communities collaborating. The Learning Centre produces engaging learning events, provides dynamic online learning and publishes Tamarack's best thinking.
Louise found a home in community-based work at Opportunities 2000 and joined Tamarack upon its inception in 2001. She holds a Master's degree in History and recently completed the Executive Program for Non-profit Leaders at Stanford University.
