FAQs

Who will be there?

We seek to bring together a diverse mix of individuals from a variety of sectors, and we encourage participants to enrich the Institute with their unique experience, and the issues and ideas that matter to them the most.

Participants include representatives of community organizations, businesses, funders and national, provincial and regional governments.

What will I learn?

The Communities Collaborating Institute focuses on collaborative approaches to community renewal, making connections, inspiring learners, and on forming an ongoing learning community.

For more information about the 2012 Institute Program, click here.

How can I prepare?

We will be arranging pre-learning opportunities by sending you material that you can read and also we will host pre-event tele-learning sessions giving you the opportunity to engage with Thought-leaders prior to the event.

What time does the conference start and end?

The conference officially starts at 9am on Monday, but we are doing registration in the hotel starting at 7:30am. On Sunday night we will also be doing some early registration, and we will announce the time for that closer to the conference date. As for Friday, we plan to close at 12:00 noon to allow lots of time for you to find lunch and catch your plane home.

Will there be free time?

Yes, if you want it! We have designed an urban retreat with optional, informal activities in the morning and evening outside of formal sessions. We hope they will rejuvenate you and help you learn and connect with your peers in different ways, but it’s your choice if you prefer to skip them in favour of more time on your own. View the Institute program for more details.

Who is taking care of my travel and accommodation?

Participants are required to book and pay separately for their own travel and accommodation for their time in Kitchener. Here at Tamarack, we're working hard to make sure your experience at the Institute is an enjoyable one. Need more information than what is provided below? Please feel free to contact us by email at cci@tamarackcommunity.ca or by calling 519-885-5155.

Travel & Accommodation

Travel and accommodation costs are not included as part of the conference fee, but reduced lodging rates have been secured at the Delta Kitchener-Waterloo - $108.90 plus tax for a guest room. A limited block of rooms has been secured at this rate - so book early before this room rate has sold out.

You can reserve your room online or by calling the Delta Hotel Reservation line at 1-888-890-3222 and ask for Tamarack when making your reservation to take advantage of this special discounted rate.

Contact us at cci@tamarackcommunity.ca if we can assist you in exploring room sharing - we will make a list available of participants who are looking for roommates to share accommodations for the event.  Note however that participants are responsible for their own hotel booking, cancellations and payment as well as confirming any and all roommate arrangements.
