What are the concrete ways that policy makers and funders can support place-based, collaborative and comprehensive efforts to reduce poverty?
Community wide efforts to tackle complex issues such as poverty do not operate in a vacuum. They are directly and indirectly influenced by the policies and practices of public policy and government and philanthropic funders. Many of the traditional policies emphasize short term responses that focus on only one dimension of poverty, a practice that runs counter to working across boundaries on the multiple root causes of poverty over a longer period of time.
