Surrey is a fast growing, dynamic community, recognized as an innovative leader in addressing social, economic and environmental issues in BC’s Lower Mainland. Vibrant Surrey is an important collaborator, contributor and facilitator in this arena.
We organize our work around three component goals: strengthening capacity and increasing social capital; incubating new initiatives; and facilitating knowledge sharing. Committed to addressing the ‘grey spaces’ related to poverty, Vibrant Surrey’s multi-sectoral membership works together to make the city a better place to live for all who call Surrey home.

Vibrant Surrey Moves Forward
Vibrant Surrey has been busy updating existing projects and incubating new ones. In the fall of 2010 they will release an updated version of their 2007 Moving Towards Solutions report. The report examines key indicators of poverty and offers hopeful ‘made in Surrey’ case studies. At the same time, look for 21 digital stories emerging from Vibrant Surrey’s Voices of Experience project. This project provides women, immigrants and youth with a chance to raise awareness, have their voices heard, and convey real experiences of living in poverty.
Meanwhile, Project Comeback continues to support the working homeless back to sustained employment and housing with transportation, household needs and an average of 120 visits a month to its resource room.
A new initiative, Tomorrow’s Workplace, launched in May 2010 with the sponsorship of the Surrey Board of Trade. 158 people from business, service organizations, corporations, government and the general public were part of the launch of a guide for business leaders to help them meet workplace challenges. The guide will be distributed across Canada.
