Building on Success: A Blueprint for Effective Primary Health Care - This position paper from the Association of Ontario Health Centres is helpful for two reasons: it makes a strong case for community-based health care in the first section, and uses 9 short examples in the second section to illustrate the benefits of community health centres. Each story consists of three parts: a specific health problem; the solution provided by the community health centre; and the benefits of that approach—how it was more effective, cheaper, and faster than traditional, hospital-based solutions.

Real Stories: Community Health in Action - This website, hosted and maintained by Health Nexus, holds a good collection of stories about community health and community health centres in Ontario.

Speech by Janet Napper - Hospice care is not about curing illness; hospices provide care for people suffering from terminal illness. This speech by Janet Napper, president of the Hospice Association of Ontario, explains the need for, and growth of, hospice care in Ontario. Hospice care is viewed as a more human-scale, community-oriented alternative to hospital care, where people in the last months of their lives can be comfortable and receive the personal guidance possible at small-scale hospices.
