this book Putnam explores the value of “social capital”

Development and Environmental Care by Roger Hart.
This book is recommended for policy makers, teachers,
youth workers and community leaders who work with children
between ages 9-12.
Assets In Action: A Handbook for
Making Communities Better Places to Grow Up by Deborah
Fisher. This book provides you with the fundamentals of
starting, building, and supporting a healthy community.
Raising Children in a Socially Toxic
Environment by James Garbarino.
Better Together: Restoring the American
Community by Robert D. Putnam, Lewis, M. Feldstein.
This is a book of stories about people who are building
communities and thereby building personal relationships.
Community and Growth by
Jean Vanier. The author, founder of the L’Arche
community, has written a reflective book on the nature and
meaning of community.
The Different Drum: Community Making
and Peace by M. Scott Peck. This book strives
to reconnect people with their communities and demonstrates
the positive power that a unified community can wield both
locally and nationally.
