| There
is something about community that makes us reach out to others
and connect on many levels.
In an effort to assist organizations with
bringing people and groups together, this section provides
brief introductions to various faith traditions written
by their respective members, as well as tips on establishing
interfaith dialogues and working with faith communities.
Tamarack believes that community is about
place, spirit, belonging and connection, and we want to go
beyond simple techniques of community engagement to inspire
and build communities that centre on caring and being cared
for.
Faith communities and religious-based organizations
are major resources for building community, and addressing
social and systemic issues. Therefore, engaging in and across
faiths can be both personally and publicly beneficial.
With a profound sense of responsibility and
the desire to help people in need, faith communities have
the power to bring individuals and groups together for the
greater good.
As our society becomes increasingly culturally
diverse, there is a need for increased dialogue between different
religious groups, agencies and organizations to learn what
motivates people and what aspects of faith we have in common.
This web section, like our understanding
of faith communities, will continue to evolve. We welcome
your help in this learning process. Please e-mail
