| Within Christianity,
there are a number distinct traditions, denominations and
church bodies, many with various doctrinal differences related
to culture and place. Although all churches follow the teachings
of Jesus Christ, each church has distinct origins and practices
that make them unique.
Christianity involves a set of beliefs, a
way of life and a community of people. Different Christian
groups place varying weights on these three aspects, but they
always involve all three, which are based on the life and
teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, who is also known as the Christ.
In the Christian faith, Jesus Christ is revered
as the Lord and Messiah, but Christians may have particular
definitions of Jesus based on their personal relationship
with Him.
What remains the same across all Christian
denominations is the focus on personal relationships –
with God and with others. Fellowship involves a consideration
of life together as Christians, spending time together in
worship, educational activities and in service to others.
